California authorities are searching for an armed and dangerous MS-13 gang member who was caught on surveillance video fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend in front of her 3-year-old daughter, police said.
Karen Ruiz, 35, was dropping her daughter off at her babysitter’s house in Arleta on Wednesday when she noticed Herbert Nixon Flores, 46, stepping out of a vehicle to chase after her, KABC-TV reported.
Surveillance footage released by the Los Angeles Police Department Thursday shows a vehicle pulling up behind Ruiz’s car at a driveway.
Ruiz can be seen running and screaming towards a house pleading for help. Flores catches up to Ruiz and allegedly fires multiple shots at her, the disturbing video shows.
A woman then opens the door and yells in Spanish, “He killed her, he killed her!” while a child cries in the background, according to video.
Police say the child is safe with family members.
Ruiz and Flores had a violent relationship, cops said, according to KTLA.
Ruiz recently took out a restraining order against Flores, alleging he was stalking and threatening her for months, the outlet reported.
