A Manhattan food deliveryman was attacked by a mob and robbed of his cellphone while trying to snap a photo of the car that hit him, new video shows.
The 29-year-old victim was nearing the corner of First Ave. and E. Third St. around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday when he was struck by a passing car, police said.
Both the car and the bicyclist stopped, but when the victim tried to take a photo of the vehicle, nearly a dozen men and women swarmed him.
Video released Thursday by police shows shows the group knocking the deliveryman to the ground. Cops said the victim broke his jaw in the assault.
A man in a white suit appears to break up the fight and helps the victim up. But another man in a light blue track suit jumps down from the hood of a parked SUV and sucker punches the victim in the face, the video shows.
The crooks swiped the victim’s cellphone before running off. It’s not clear if they came out of the vehicle that struck the deliveryman, police said.
Medics took the victim to Bellevue Hospital. His attackers are still being sought.
Anyone with information about the attack is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
