The maniac who whacked a cop in the head with a stick in Queens was taken to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation Tuesday — after refusing to cooperate at a court hearing, according to court officials.
Akeele Morgan, 25, was arrested in the caught-on-camera attack on the NYPD detective in Flushing around 11:50 a.m. Monday, cops siad.
A court officer told The Post that Morgan refused to speak to his lawyer and only wanted to speak to the judge at his arraignment. He also would only answer questions by shaking his head yes or no, the officer said.
The broad-daylight attack took place as the detective was taking measurements at a crime scene, according to police.
Footage shared by the Detectives’ Endowment Association showed the cop standing outside the crime scene and taking notes — as a man holding two long white sticks creeps up behind him.
The perp then whacks the officer, who crouches down while holding his head in pain.
Another cop and a man who appears to be a bystander can then be seen taking off after him. Morgan was arrested nearby at 39th Avenue near Prince Street, police said.
He was charged with assault on a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment, cops said.
Detectives’ Endowment Association President Paul DiGiacomo said his detective was targeted solely for wearing his uniform.
“There was no reason only because he was wearing a uniform,” DiGiacomo said Tuesday on the “The Joe Piscopo Morning Show” on AM 970.
“He was doing his job and he was just blindsided by this individual with a construction type of a marker that’s like a whip,” he said. “It’s like a horse whip and when it whipped him, it was very painful.”
