White woman hit in head on MTA bus in clash with Black riders; hate crimes probe launched

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A white woman on a Queens MTA bus was struck in the head during a dispute with three Black riders who said they “hate white people” in an incident police say is being probed by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force.

The 57-year-old victim was on a southbound Q53 bus in Woodhaven when she got into an argument with three other passengers around 6:50 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

The confrontation then intensified with the passengers, who sources told the Daily News were Black women or girls.

Police said the victim was then struck in the head with an unknown object, causing a laceration and bleeding, and the individuals made anti-white remarks.

The victim told police that her attackers said, “I hate white people … the way they talk,” sources told the outlet.

Cops said the suspects fled on foot westbound and have not been arrested.

The 57-year-old was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition, where the Daily News reports she needed two staples to close the gash on her head.
