Approximately a quarter of Americans believed that January 6 was ‘staged by the FBI’, according to the findings of a documentary that looks at the rise of conspiracy theorists and misinformation in the US.
The documentary, conducted by Irish CNN journalist Donie O’Sullivan, looked at American citizens who believe that Taylor Swift helped rig the Super Bowl, among other conspiracy theories.
One part of the documentary sees O’Sullivan interview American man Joe Black, who believes that the Democrats rigged the 2020 election.
During their conversation about how Black consumes news, O’Sullivan asked whether or not he believed that Taylor Swift played some part in rigging the Super Bowl, in order to boost Biden’s chances of being re-elected.

O’Sullivan said that it is important to listen to these people, as it is not a small minority, pointing out that “tens of millions” believe the FBI had some part to play in the January 6th riot.
To conclude, O’Sullivan said: “It’s going to be the story of the 2024 election and behind. Americans, for the most part are living in two very different realities right now.”
