MLB team refuses to host LGBTQ Pride Game

June is Pride Month for the LGBTQ Community. As a result, there will be LGBTQ Pride celebrations throughout Major League Baseball next month with teams across the country hosting Pride Night celebrations at their ballparks – or similar promotions that celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. But one team is refusing to host a pride celebration: the Texas Rangers.

As Outsports points out, 29 teams throughout Major League Baseball have LGBTQ Pride celebrations planned in their ballparks. But the Texas Rangers are once again refusing to host a Pride celebration.

The Rangers have a history of refusing to celebrate the LGBTQ community. The team has not hosted a promotion to celebrate the LGBTQ+ in over two decades. Back in 2003, the team did invite several LGBTQ+ groups to the ballpark, but it was not officially marketed as any specific promotion and was met with anti-gay protests. The team has not hosted a similar event since.
