Donald Trump was announced as the 47th president of the United States yesterday (6 November) after beating Democrat rival, Kamala Harris, to the leadership.
The 78-year-old, who is also the first convicted felon to serve in the presidential role, has made a series of vows on what he’ll do following his win.

But what has Trump actually said about trans rights after Caitlyn Jenner’s congratulatory post for him left fans seriously confused on his stance towards LGBTQ+ matters?
Caitlyn, who transitioned in 2015 after announcing that she identified as a woman in April of that year, took to Instagram yesterday to share a message to her 15.4 million followers following Trump’s win.
She posted a snap of herself, Trump, his granddaughter Kai Madison, and Elon Musk, captioning the photo: “Hope is back in America.
“These two men will single-handedly save western civilisation and that starts with a strong United States of America.”

Well, he’s previously said he will order all federal agencies to end programmes that ‘promote … gender transition at any age’, as well as pledging to slash funding from hospitals providing gender-affirming care which ‘promote the concept of sex and gender transition at any age’.
He’s also vowed to push for a federal law stating the government doesn’t legally recognise trans people and rescind federal LGBTQ+ non-discrimination policies, like housing, healthcare, and employment.

“The left-wing gender insanity being pushed at our children is an act of child abuse. Very simple. Here’s my plan to stop the chemical, physical, and emotional mutilation of our youth,” Trump also said back in January.
He has also called for new credentialing for teachers to ‘promote positive education about the nuclear family, the roles of mothers and fathers’, as per The Guardian.
Trump and Musk have 17 children with six different women between them.
