A caseworker for an company that assists refugees was in surgery Wednesday after a Afghan refugee allegedly stabbed him multiple times, authorities in Oakland County said.
Deputies in Orion Township responded to a 911 call reporting that a man had been stabbed, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said on social media Wednesday evening. It wasn’t immediately clear exactly when the incident happened.

“The suspect is in custody and there is no indication there is anyone else involved or any danger to the community,” Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said on X.
Additional details including the suspect’s identity, his legal status in the U.S. and a possible motive in the alleged attack have not been released.

The sheriff’s office described the victim’s injuries as “serious” and said he was in surgery as of Wednesday evening.
