President John F. Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, claimed on X on Monday morning that Vice President JD Vance “killed the pope” in a partially facetious message slamming the U.S. second-in-command.
“Okay JD killed the pope,” Schlossberg penned on his official account. His message comes as “antichrist” trends on the social media platform, with thousands of users calling Vance that after an awkward meeting between him and the pope on Easter Sunday.

Vance met with the pope early on Easter Sunday, just about a day before he died. The meeting came amid their ongoing feud, which began when the pope condemned the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigration.
Vance, who is a Catholic convert, spent Easter weekend in Rome with his family and attended Good Friday services at St. Peter’s Basilica after meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Several hours after the pontiff’s death, Vance penned a lengthy, somewhat odd message honoring Francis as he referenced an address the pope gave during the days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He then commented on the late pontiff’s health during the meeting: “I was happy to see him yesterday, though he was obviously very ill.”
He went on to say he’ll “always remember” the pope for the homily he gave in the early days of COVID. “It was really quite beautiful,” Vance wrote. “May God rest his soul.”
The rest of X was rife with jokes about Vance killing the pope, with criticisms of the vice president running rampant on the platform, which is owned and operated by tech mogul and top Trump adviser Elon Musk.

“Pope Francis survived a double pneumonia but not a five minutes meeting with JD Vance,” another wrote in yet another viral post. Yet another penned, “If I was next on JD Vance’s schedule, I would be shaking in my boots,” attaching a picture of Vance dropping Ohio State’s championship trophy and of him meeting with the pope, who looks surprised and a little disgusted with the vice president.
