The Department of Homeland Security is partnering with hundreds of law enforcement agencies to arrest and deport illegal immigrants.

The agreement allows state and local law enforcement agencies to conduct immigration enforcement operations with oversight from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, use federal immigration databases to identify the status of those arrested, and initiate ICE detainers to hold illegal immigrants until ICE can take them into custody.

One of the agreements resulted in the joint immigration enforcement effort of DHS and Florida called Operation Tidal Wave.
“In just six days, 1,120 criminal illegal aliens were arrested, including dozens of rapists, murderers, drug traffickers, and MS-13 members,” according to the DHS memo. “This resounding success is a preview of what is to come: Effective and efficient coordination at all levels of law enforcement to remove illegal aliens.”
