When one heckler yelled “Traitor,” Homan stopped attempting to take questions and addressed the disruptor directly.
“You know, I want to take questions, I’ll take questions a little bit,” Homan said. “But once you grow a backbone, put a Kevlar vest and a gun on your hip and go secure this border.”
The exchange took a darker turn when another attendee attempted to link Homan to the 2019 El Paso Walmart shooting, where gunman Patrick Crusius killed 23 people and injured 22 others. Homan, who has overseen a record-breaking number of ICE arrests in recent months, revealed the personal toll of his position. He noted that he currently lives separately from his wife due to the volume and severity of death threats targeting his family.
