‘Complete Lie’: DOJ Deputy Torches Democrat Claims As Minneapolis ICE Standoff Explodes

The battle over immigration enforcement in the Twin Cities hit a boiling point Sunday, moving from the frozen streets of Minneapolis to a heated showdown on national television. In a blistering interview, a top Department of Justice official flatly accused Democrats of fabricating stories about federal agents to fuel public outrage.

The spark for the exchange on Fox News Sunday was a series of explosive allegations made by Representative Pramila Jayapal.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, appearing with host Shannon Bream, didn’t just dispute the account—he dismantled it entirely.

“What you just heard was a complete lie,” Blanche said, visibly frustrated. “That is absolutely not what’s happening on the ground in Minnesota.”

“They’re throwing rocks at ICE officers. They are standing in the roadway… It’s absurd to call what these folks are doing peaceful protests,” Blanche said. He characterized the accusations of civil rights violations as “made-up outrage” designed to damage law enforcement credibility.

Leadership in the Crosshairs

The Deputy Attorney General’s counter-offensive didn’t stop at Jayapal. He widened his target to include Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, accusing the state’s top leaders of actively obstructing federal law.

This friction comes as the Department of Justice confirms it is investigating both Walz and Frey for potentially impeding immigration enforcement—a probe Mayor Frey has already dismissed as an intimidation tactic.

Troops on Standby

The war of words is playing out against a backdrop of potential military escalation. Reports confirmed this weekend that the Pentagon has placed approximately 1,500 active-duty soldiers on standby for possible deployment to Minnesota if the unrest spirals further.

While Blanche insisted the administration prefers local police to handle the situation, he made it clear that the White House is ready to step in if they feel state officials have lost control.

With a massive statewide “day of action” scheduled by activists for this coming Friday, the gap between the official narrative in Washington and the reality on the streets of Minneapolis seems wider than ever.
