A fourth person suspected of taking part in the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old Wichita man this past weekend has been arrested, according to Sedgwick County Jail booking records.
Cassell Stephon Peterson, 57, was arrested at his south Wichita home and booked into the jail Wednesday afternoon. He is being held on suspicion of first-degree felony murder in the Sunday slaying of Timothy Austin, as well as possession of a controlled substance.
Austin died after he was fatally wounded early Sunday morning in the parking lot of Countryside Inn, 803 S. Broadway. Police earlier this week said Austin’s killing is connected to drugs. Capt. Brent Allred said Austin met a group of people in the motel parking lot, got into a fight with them and was shot once in his upper body while he was standing outside of their vehicle.
Court records say the shooting is tied to a cocaine possession crime.
Peterson, whose total bail was set at $102,500, is the fourth person jailed in the case. The others made a first appearance in Sedgwick County District Court on Wednesday, court records show:
- Bryant Damon Bailey, 49, of Wichita is charged with first-degree felony murder and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Bail was set at $250,000.
- Robyn Leah Murphy, 52, of Wichita is charged with first-degree felony murder. Bail was set at $100,000.
- Annette Williams, 60 of Wichita is charged with first-degree felony murder. Bail was set at $100,000.
