6-year-old boy drops wallet at Chandler Walmart; police seek woman who walked off with it

Chandler police are asking for help in identifying a woman who they say stole a 6-year-old boy’s wallet with $200 of Christmas and birthday money at a Walmart on Wednesday.

The boy dropped his wallet inside the store, near Pecos Road and State Route 87, about 9 p.m. while shopping with his mother, according to officials.

A Walmart surveillance video shows a woman wearing a gray hoodie, black pants and a light-colored face mask picking up the boy’s wallet and making no effort to return it or locate the owner, according to Sgt. Jason McClimans, a Chandler police spokesperson.

The woman is described as being about 5 feet, 3 inches to 5 feet, 5 inches and weighing 150 to 160 pounds. She was accompanied by a girl who appears to be a teenager, according to McClimans.

The two left Walmart in a two-door black vehicle with custom rims, according to police.
