Police nab suspect who raped NYC woman while posing as a deliveryman

Police have arrested the man wanted for raping and robbing a woman while pretending to deliver a package to her Manhattan apartment on Christmas Eve.

Cops from the 13th Precinct spotted the suspect in the same area Saturday morning and took him into custody, NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison tweeted.

Charges were pending and the man’s name was not immediately disclosed.

Cops on Friday released surveillance images of the suspect wearing a bright yellow and blue reversible bubble jacket, light-colored pants with a stripe down the side and light-colored sneakers.

The 27-year-old woman told police that she was in her apartment near E. 30th St. and Third Ave. around 11:45 a.m. on Thursday when the man showed up pretending to deliver a package.

As she opened the door, the man pushed his way inside and throttled her until she lost consciousness, said cops.

When the woman woke up, the man raped her and forced her to hand over all her credit cards, debit cards and PIN codes, police said.

The suspect ran out of the apartment as the victim called 911. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Harrison said the 13th Precinct officers recognized the suspect “based off the wanted flyer.”
