Gov. Pete Ricketts signs proclamation declaring Nebraska a ‘Second Amendment Sanctuary State’

Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts has signed a proclamation declaring his state a “Second Amendment Sanctuary State.””Nebraska has always been a state that has supported our Second Amendment rights. As a symbol of that support, today I am signing a proclamation to declare Nebraska a Second Amendment Sanctuary State,” the Republican governor said in a video.

“The White House and U.S. Congress have announced their intention to pursue measures that would infringe on the right to keep and bear arms,” part of the proclamation states. “Nebraska will stand up against federal overreach and attempts to regulate gun ownership and use in the Good Life,” another section of the proclamation states.

Last week the Biden administration announced actions related to gun violence, and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki indicated that more actions could be coming in the future. She said that Biden “is not going to wait for Congress to act to take additional executive actions. This is the beginning. He will continue to have his team review, both from a policy and a legal standpoint, additional executive actions that are possible to take.”
