About this rating
In late 2023 and through 2024, rumors circulated online about a children’s book titled “In My Daddy’s Belly,” which supposedly tells the story of a man who gets pregnant and gives birth:
This video had gained 33,300 views as of this writing, as well as nearly 2,000 likes. “As parents, it is our job, it is our responsibility to protect our little children,” the TikTok user said, enjoining parents to “teach them the right thing” as he showed an image of a heterosexual couple with a child.

The book is real. Its author is Logan Brown, a trans man from Manchester, England, who became pregnant by his partner and gave birth in 2023. The book, which was published in November 2023, seeks to explain to children in accessible terms that trans men — men whose assigned sex at birth was female — can have babies.
According to Brown, the pair had not been a couple for very long when Brown unexpectedly became pregnant.
Brown isn’t the only trans man to have carried a pregnancy to term. Those who do call themselves “seahorse dads,” after the only species — along with sea dragons — whose males carry the eggs and give birth. In 2019, a documentary titled “Seahorse: The Dad Who Gave Birth,” was released to critical acclaim, recounting the journey of Freddy McConnell, a trans man who had a baby.

In the interview, Brown provided more context on how the pregnancy occurred. “We’ve not even been together that long, to be honest,” he said. “That’s why it’s a big shocker that we’re even having a baby together.” At the time, Brown was off testosterone for health reasons. Brown had been recounting his story in a blog, titled “Up the Duff Man” (“up the duff” is a British expression that means pregnant). At the time of the interview, Brown was also writing two books. One of them was an autobiography and the other was the children’s book “In My Daddy’s Belly.”
Brown said he was the target of transphobic harassment during the pregnancy. Similarly, his book received many negative reviews on the Amazon page, most of which expressed transphobic views, some citing religion and others purporting to draw from science to criticize the book. “This is only accurate according to feelings, not actual science,” one wrote. Of the 124 one-star reviews, only one was from a verified purchase.
