The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit ruled 8-2 on Tuesday to uphold a 2021 Arkansas law banning gender-affirming care for minors, ruling that parents “do not have unlimited authority to make medical decisions for their children.”
This case follows a similar case from Oklahoma by just a few days. Like Arkansas and the Tennessee case decided by SCOTUS, Oklahoma has joined the majority of states, 27 in all, which ban the use of surgery and hormones as “gender-affirming care” for minors.

The last three months may, in retrospect, be seen as the turning point of the transgender craze. A solid majority of states forbid using drugs and surgery to create transgender kids. That number will probably add three or four more states to its number. Without any hope of a legal victory, and if we get another couple of administrations like the current one, which are not afraid to use the clout of the Justice Department to enforce the protection of women’s sports and intimate spaces, this entire crazed social contagion could very well slink back into the shadows.
