Dr. Leroy Carhart, a prolific abortionist known for challenging bans on partial-birth abortions, was caught admitting that unborn babies are actually babies — not just clumps of cells like many pro-choice proponents insist.
During a discussion on late-term abortion, Carhart said that the child in question had no say in abortions.
“The baby has no input on this, as far as I’m concerned,” he insisted.
A reporter speaking with Carhart about late-term abortions responded, “It’s interesting that you use the word ‘baby,’ because a lot of abortionists won’t use that [term]. They’ll use the word ‘fetus’ because they don’t want to acknowledge that it’s a life.”
Carhart didn’t back down on his original terminology, and, if anything, reinforced his position on the matter.
“I think that it is a baby, and I use [the term] with the patient,” he fired back, noting that he had no problem “killing a baby.”
“I have no problem if it’s in the mother’s uterus,” Carhart qualified.
He admitted that he is open to counseling female patients about their decision on getting an abortion.
“It goes into financial health, social health … there’s a long list,” he said, admitting that he has no problem in his line of business, especially when a woman is concerned that having a baby will ruin her life.
“[You perform the abortions] right up until when, 38, 39 weeks?” the reporter asked.
Carhart said that he “[didn’t] know,” and wouldn’t say.
“To the fetus, it makes no difference if it’s born or not born,” he explained, before launching into a graphic depiction of how the process works.
“These are the forceps I use to grab the fetus, crush it, and pull it out [piece by piece],” he revealed, but noting that the baby is already deceased prior to his crushing of the skull.
“You’ve got to remember that the baby has been dead for 48 hours,” Carhart reasoned. “It’s not like we’re crushing a living skull.”
