Report: US Activates National Guard In 28 States

PITTSBURGH, PA (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – The U.S. has reportedly activated 3,300 National Guard soldiers after all 50 states issued an emergency declaration because of COVID-19.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, the U.S. military is increasing its role as the coronavirus continues to spread and lockdowns are becoming commonplace. The website also says that the National Guard has been deployed to 28 states.

General Joseph Lengyel, Chief of the National Guard, took to Twitter to refute rumors of a pending national lockdown stating, “I hear unfounded rumors about #NationalGuard troops supporting a nationwide quarantine. Let me be clear: There has been no such discussion.”

Lengyel’s tweet came as many reported receiving text messages warning of martial law, prompting authorities to assure residents the messages were fake, according to FOX News.

In the midst of the military move, 10,000 hotel and dorm rooms are being repurposed into medical care units by US Army Corps of Engineers.
