‘When did you hear the grant was made?’: Trump rips reporter for question about US grant to Wuhan lab

President Trump pushed back on a White House press pool reporter who asked him why the United States would give a grant to China to research diseases.

“REPORTER: “Why would the U.S. Give a grant to China?” political strategist Caleb Hull wrote on Twitter along with a video of the exchange. “TRUMP: “When did you hear the grant was made?” REPORTER: “2015.” TRUMP: “Who is president then, I wonder?”

It was reported earlier this week that the Chinese laboratory at the center of the coronavirus controversy was given a grant from the U.S. government amounting to $3.7 million.

The money was given to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to experiment on captured mammals.

A Fox News exclusive report this week stated that the coronavirus outbreak likely originated in a Wuhan lab, though not as part of a bioweapon program but as an attempt from China to match the capability of the U.S. to identify and combat viruses.

This may be the “costliest government cover-up of all time,” a source said about the development.
