Two police officers shot while serving warrants in North Carolina, officials say

Two police officers and a suspect were shot early Monday in North Carolina, officials say.

Detectives with the Spring Lake Police Department were trying to serve warrants at about 12:45 a.m. when they took one person in custody in a residential area, according to a news release.

That’s when another person shot two officers, the department said in the release. One cop went into surgery, and another had injuries that were not life-threatening, according to officials.

The person who allegedly fired at officers was shot and later airlifted to a hospital, police say.

“The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the officer involved shooting,” the news release said.

Spring Lake is in Cumberland County and roughly 10 miles northwest of Fayetteville.
