Bodycam footage of an ‘unprovoked’ attack on Florida deputy outside Auto Zone

A Florida deputy had a frightening run-in on Wednesday evening and it was all caught on bodycam.

According to a police report from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about a man who kept entering and exiting an Auto Zone in New Port Richey.

According to the report, the man was initially “very cooperative” with the officers, but when he entered the store again, things escalated.

The deputies informed the man that while he was not under arrest and was free to leave, he could not go back into Auto Zone. It was unclear why the individual continued to go back into the car supplies retailer.

“During this conversation, the subject suddenly became violent,” said the arrest affidavit, “aggressively attacking the deputy,” swinging his first, “unprovoked,” and jumping on top of the officer.

In the clip, you can see the suspect lunge toward the officer and screams are heard. The suspect is then tased and falls to the ground.

Alexander Jerome Ealy, 30, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer. He was held on $2,500 bail.

“The Pasco Sheriff’s Office has used body cameras for over five years and, during that time, we’ve shown you what our deputies face each shift,” said the agency in a release.

“We share video like this to again highlight the good work and professionalism of our deputies and to also thank our community for their continued support and their willingness to assist if the need arises.”
