BLM activist Shaun King spent more than $40K of donor money on dog: Report

Controversial Black Lives Matter activist and outspoken supporter of the “Defund the Police” movement Shaun King used over $40,000 in donor cash to buy a dog for his family.

King’s political action committee, Grassroots Law PAC, is said to have paid the massive sum of donor money to a California breeder to purchase a guard dog, according to a report.

Grassroots Law paid Potrero Performance Dogs in a series of payments for the animal.

These payments occurred from December to February, the report noted.

The dog, a prize show Mastiff named Marz, was welcomed by King in a Facebook post that has since either been deleted or made private, according to the report.

In the post, the BLM activist welcomed the “new member of the King family.”

Since 2021, Grassroots Law has given at least $56,000 to various campaigns for political candidates who align with King’s beliefs, the report noted, a mere $16,000 more than was reportedly paid for Marz.

Marz did not stay with King and his family for long, as he had “a little too much energy to be a family dog so he came back,” Potrero Performance Dogs said.

The dog has since returned to American Kennel Club competition, the report noted.
