The supposedly racist incident at the Little League World Series and the surprising truth

Talk about a nothing burger.

A new photo has emerged in the “racist” Little League World Series scandal that explains the full context of the short clip — and it’s as innocent as 12-year-olds playing baseball.

During the Sunday broadcast of the MLB Little League Classic between the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox, the ESPN cameras showed white Little Leaguers from Davenport, Iowa, putting stuffing from a plush animal in their black teammate’s hair.

People on Twitter cried foul, saying it was a blatantly racist act. Little League officials said there was “no ill intent” behind the actions.

It turns out, both a black and white teammate put the stuffing in their hair, according to Twitter user K.E. Ganshert.

And the boyish high jinks were to pay tribute to Jaron Lancaster, the stud pitcher from Honolulu who has a very distinctive white mohawk.

Lancaster has been lighting up the Little League World Series with both his arm and his bat. According to a clip posted by the same account, the players, who were representing the Midwest region had just gotten his autograph and were extremely happy about it.
