As a native of Philadelphia, and a Pennsylvania voter in the November election, I can safely say that John Fetterman is dangerous. His politics scare me. Many of the radical left-wing policies he supports, and in many cases, implemented, have helped many criminals live better lives. They have also endangered law-abiding Pennsylvanians.
Fetterman isn’t from Philadelphia, but one would never know it by looking at his political record. Throughout his time in politics, Fetterman has embraced the type of failed policies that have made the once great city of Philadelphia into a crime-ridden, poverty-stricken dystopia. Now he wants to champion those policies in Washington, D.C. These radical left-wing policies that have devastated cities throughout the country will do nothing but turn the United States into Philadelphia.
Crime is soaring under the current Democratic presidential administration. If Fetterman wins the Pennsylvania Senate election, it will exacerbate this problem. He is on the wrong side of legislation and history on nearly every sociocultural issue he has ever been involved in, from immigration to criminal justice.
Consider Fetterman’s position on illegal immigration. The country is experiencing its worst border crisis in history. Illegal immigrants are crossing the border in record numbers. Throughout his political career, Fetterman has supported illegal immigration and sanctuary cities. He is on record as saying that “sanctuary cities make everybody safer.” But, in reality, this just isn’t true. All one has to do is ask any number of the many victims of violent crimes in sanctuary cities how safe they feel. There are enough struggles with illegal immigration. Our country doesn’t need another Democratic senator to make matters significantly worse.
Consider Fetterman’s position on criminal justice reforms. Many of the criminal problems plaguing Philadelphia stem from the policies of the Soros-funded, radical left-wing District Attorney Larry Krasner. Krasner and his office have come under fire recently for embracing policies that fail to prosecute criminals and releasing many prisoners from jail. This has correlated with a 78% increase in homicides since Krasner was elected. As I mentioned earlier, and it bears repeating, these are the kind of policies that Fetterman champions.
He is an avid enthusiast of releasing prisoners from jail. In October 2020, while speaking to a panel about criminal justice, Fetterman commented about emptying the prisons by over 30%. And, even more disturbing, he stated he doesn’t think releasing this many people will significantly affect crime.
“I was on a panel with Secretary Wetzel earlier, before the pandemic hit, and he said something remarkable that I agree with,” Fetterman said. “He said, ‘We could reduce our prison population by a third and not make anyone less safe in Pennsylvania.’ And that’s a profound statement.”
Additionally, as the Philadelphia Inquirer and Breitbart have highlighted, while he was lieutenant governor, the number of commutations of life sentences that Fetterman recommended significantly increased. Moreover, Fetterman recommended to Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf that 13 people convicted of murder should have their prison terms commuted. Fetterman’s history shows that he was more concerned with releasing criminals than protecting people.
He has actively worked to keep criminals out of jail and on the streets. He champions many of the policies that have led to Philadelphia’s demise. No one in the country should want any of these things, let alone be advocated by a senator. Yet, that is exactly what will happen if Fetterman gets elected.
Philadelphia is suffering. We don’t need the policies that wounded the city to gain further support in the Senate. Left-wing politicians have prioritized the criminals over the citizens. These misguided pursuits have caused irreparable harm, costing the lives of many innocent people. They are predicated on such illogical nonsense that only an elected Democrat could believe in them — which is exactly why Fetterman must not be elected.
