Convicted murderer blames white judge for being in jail

Milan Loncar was walking his dog in the Brewerytown section of Philadelphia one cold winter night in January 2021. Little did he know it would be his last night alive. Josephus Davis and another man attacked Loncar and, after a brief tussle, shot him in the chest.

In an instant, Loncar’s life was over. Davis and the other man fled the scene while Loncar was left to die on the street with only his dog nearby. Davis was later arrested and sentenced last week for his crime. But rather than admit remorse, Davis blamed his skin color as the reason he was in jail.

Davis appeared in court through Zoom last week for his sentence hearing. Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Barbara A. McDermott sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Yet Davis maintained his innocence and blamed systemic racism as the reason he was in jail, not his murder of Loncar.

“It’s a shame that another black male, young male, is losing his life to the system,” Davis said. “It’s another white judge, white family, white DA, and another black male.”

Except the evidence proved otherwise.

When police apprehended Davis, he was wearing some of the same distinguishing clothing he wore when he murdered Loncar, according to reports. Prosecutors matched Davis’s belt and shoes with what he was wearing in a surveillance video of the murder, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Additionally, in subsequent ballistics tests, police found gunshot residue on Davis’s clothes.

There’s also the fact that the suspect who blamed white people and a corrupt, racist criminal justice system also had an extensive violent criminal history. Davis had four prior arrests, including charges of aggravated assault, robbery, and carjacking. And, at the time he murdered Loncar, he was on parole for robbery.

But this is what the Left has done to American society. Murderous thugs are now crying “racism” because of the Left’s decades of indoctrination. But Davis is not in jail because of his skin color, nor is he in jail because of any systemic issues. He is there because Josephus Davis is an evil person who murdered an innocent man walking his dog.

Criminals are people who choose to harm others. They are not innocent victims randomly chosen to be imprisoned. It’s really easy not to murder someone; most people go their entire lives without doing it. Josephus Davis knew this, but he chose to end Milan Loncar’s life anyway. McDermott served justice last week, and Davis was rightfully sent away for life. However, none of this is consolation for Loncar’s family. They are the ones who have to live the rest of their lives without Milan because of Davis’s act. Davis blaming racism is insulting and offensive, and it represents everything wrong with the Left’s corrupt impact on society.

However, Davis’s claim of racism is the symptom of a more significant problem. For far too long, the Left has not been held accountable for progressing the narrative that the country’s criminal justice system is racist. This messaging has become dominant in all aspects of society, from academia to pop culture to the media. Their incessant misinformation and false, inflammatory rhetoric are impacting criminal justice policy decisions, which, in turn, is making the entire country dangerous. It’s time to bring common sense back into this country and stop blaming racism for the evil acts of a person and other societal ills.
