California mom wows internet with blistering speech branding woke school board ‘groomers and pimps’

A California mom has gone viral after a speech at a school board meeting where she called the members ‘groomers and pimps’ for promoting a family-friendly ‘queer Halloween party.’

Brittany Mayer, an activist who goes by the name Rooted Wings on Twitter, where she has over 16,000 followers, posted the speech to the Encinitas Union School District on the social media platform after she called out the school board in person.

‘While we have a culture with a massive problem with child porn and child sex trafficking, you, a little school district board of adults made the decision to feature an event to hypersexualize your children,’ Mayer said of the event.

She joked that the board ‘got caught with your sparkly panties down’ in allowing the event, which is called Boo Bash and will star drag performers dressed as Disney Villains in addition to games and trick-or-treating.

The school board sent out an invite to the event, but it is not hosted by the school or the school board.

Mayer also took issue with some of the event’s sponsors, including Rich’s Gay Bay and Align Surgical Associates, which offers gender-affirming care.

‘You all played the activist pimp for a surgical center and for a 21+ gay bar. It makes you groomers and activist pimps,’ she said in the fiery speech. ‘And we won’t have those sitting on a school board who oversees the education of our children’

Parents across the country have shared outrage similar to Mayer’s over school events that they deem inappropriate for children and are looking to take back their children’s education from woke school boards.

‘You all stepped out of line you should be ashamed. There is nothing loving, there is no, “let’s unite and include” because the logical conclusion of that is diabolical evil. There are no boundaries, and you don’t get to slap “family friendly” titles on stuff to cover your a**,’ Mayer said in closing, drawing applause from other parents.

The parents in Encinitas have hired a law firm to submit a public records request to get to the bottom of the event and its connection to the school board.

Paul Jonna, one of the attorneys representing the parents, said ‘a lot of people are just generally not comfortable with the idea of pushing drag queen shows on little kids, but separate and apart from that I think the biggest concern with this event are the sponsors.’

The event was organized by a group called Trans Family Support Services, which helps families with trans members and is based in the San Diego-area.

The school district said in a statement that the event was promoted in an online hub for local events and opportunities and that its promotion on a school website did not imply an endorsement.

Kathie Moehlig, who organized the event, said it will still take place.

‘We’re not going to back down from doing what we know is right and appropriate to support these youth and their families, just because some people think they can use it as their mega piece to get talking points and get attention,’ Moehlig said.

However, mothers like Mayer and Carrie Prejean Boller, a conservative activist and former Miss California USA winner who has two children with former NFL quarterback Kyle Boller, are fighting back.

Prejean Boller pulled her kids out of the district after going up against the school board for its mask mandate in 2021.

‘Our message is very clear. We don’t want strip shows, we don’t want drag shows, and definitely not sent out inviting the parents and kids in our district,’ Prejean Boller told 10news.

The former pageant winner, who says she was stripped of her title in 2009 because of her views on same sex marriage, went viral earlier this year when she paid children and the elderly to take off their masks at a shopping mall.

Boller wants an apology, and for whoever approved the flyer and distributed it to the school community to be fired.

Moehlig has support from at least one local politician. San Diego County Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer called parents like Mayer and Boller bigoted.

‘The parents in my home school district (Encinitas Union) protesting the Halloween Drag Show should be ashamed of themselves for pushing hate and intolerance on all of us. THIS KIND OF BIGOTRY HAS NO PLACE IN OUR COMMUNITY. Trans kids: I see you, I love you, you ARE welcome here,’ she tweeted.

Lawson-Remer added that she would be bringing her 3-year-old to the event, which drew a response from Mayer.

‘The parents in Encinitas are disgusted by a sellout school board inviting families and kids to a hypersexualized drag show sponsored by a gender surgery clinic in San Francisco and a 21+ gay nightclub in San Diego. THIS KIND OF GROOMING HAS NO PLACE IN OUR COMMUNITY,’ Mayer fired back.

The event is scheduled to take place on October 29.
