Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said “woke gender ideology” has gone too far and is now a “threat to children.”
“Women fought for the right to compete on a level playing field in sports when they faced discrimination on the basis of sex,” Gabbard, who recently renounced the Democratic Party, told the Daily Wire. “Now, the progress women and girls have made is being eroded, and so-called woke gender ideology poses a unique threat to children who are not old enough to make such permanent, irreversible decisions.”
Gabbard noted that the radical ideology transcends childhood and is now affecting those who join the United States military.
“U.S. Selective Service guidance on military draft registration for transgender people proves that Biden Admin knows that trans ‘men’ aren’t really men, and trans ‘women’ aren’t really women,” Gabbard tweeted .
Gabbard previously knocked Democrats’ move to eliminate gendered language in the House of Representatives, saying the House rules do “the very opposite” of empowering women.
“It’s the height of hypocrisy for people who claim to be the champions of rights for women to deny the very biological existence of women,” Gabbard said last year. “It’s mind-blowing because it shows just how out of touch with reality and the struggles of everyday Americans people in Congress are.”
In 2020, while still a member of Congress, Gabbard introduced a bill intended to ban biological males federally from competing in women’s sports . Since then, several states have implemented similar legislation .
Gabbard is a scheduled speaker for the “Rally to End Child Mutilation” held at the Tennessee state capitol Friday, joined by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
