Government watchdog group Protect the Public’s Trust filed a complaint Friday alleging the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention committed scientific integrity violations by not tracking down the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“According to published reports based upon documents obtained from via Freedom of Information Act requests, the CDC apparently refused to track known serious side effects to COVID-19 vaccines,” the group says in a statement.
The complaint is addressed to Health and Human Services Inspector General Christi A. Grimm and calls for a CDC investigation regarding these alleged scientific integrity violations.
“We call your attention to apparent malfeasance in the CDC’s administration of its COVID-19 vaccine safety monitoring program, v-safe,” the complaint reads. The v-safe program has been used by the CDC to collect millions of reports on COVID-19 vaccine patients’ health after their vaccination.”
The complaint is also addressed to David Kessler, Health and Human Services’ chief science officer, and Joanne Cono, of the Office of Science and an a scientific integrity officer for the Center for Disease Control.
Protect the Public’s Trust described itself in the complaint as a nonpartisan group dedicated to promoting ethics in government and restoring the public’s trust in government officials.
People having received the vaccine and its boosters have frequently reported such side effects as fever, headaches and nausea. More serious but less reported side effects include blood clots and heart inflammation.
“Based upon the public pronouncements of federal health officials one might believe the Covid-19 vaccines are unique among virtually all medications in that there are no significant or severe side effects possible from their use,” PPT Director Michael Chamberlain says. “However, it’s easy to claim there are no side effects when you refuse to track them.”
