Drunk man armed with a shotgun walks into a bar, patrons disarm man by smashing him in the face with his own gun: Police

An intoxicated man armed with a shotgun walked into an Oregon bar around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, but patrons quickly disarmed the gun-totting individual, authorities say.

According to police, a drunk man wielding a shotgun entered the Skyland Pub in Troutdale, Oregon. Quick-thinking bar patrons allegedly identified the armed man as a possible threat. Two patrons at the Skyland Pub confronted the visibly intoxicated man.

The bar patrons grabbed the man’s shotgun and smashed him in the face with his own gun, according to deputies with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. Other bargoers then helped tackle the purported drunk man, while others fled from the drinking establishment. The gunman was held captive until police arrived at the scene. Police recovered the shotgun at the Skyland Pub.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Arturo Michel-Apolinar. Deputies said that they didn’t know if Michel-Apolinar had violent intentions, but they did observe that he was noticeably drunk.

He was charged with menacing and unlawful use of a weapon, Fox 8 News reported. Michel-Apolinar was released from jail on Friday, according to court records.

Authorities said that none of the patrons were harmed in the takedown, and that only the man with the shotgun suffered injuries. He was taken to a local hospital.
