Because it is so widely unpopular, the movement to inject radical leftism into schools against parents’ wishes often operates with secrecy and dishonesty. The Education Department’s new guidelines on “Creating Inclusive and Nondiscriminatory School Environments for LGBTQI+ Students’” fit that sinister pattern.
The department encourages the spread of Gender and Sexuality Alliance clubs in schools, saying they “provide students with an opportunity to make friends, learn, and feel supported and connected at school.” The nonprofit group GSA Network has thousands of these clubs in schools across 40 states, including at the middle school level.
“Research from the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] shows that GSAs positively affect a school’s environment, creating a safer and supportive space for all students, reducing bullying, and creating a greater sense of connectedness among LGBTQI+ students,” the innocuously worded document reads.
Reducing bullying? Helping students make friends and feel welcome? Who could disagree with that?
That’s not all there is to these groups.
The GSA Network’s nine-point “manifesto” calls for “an end of the cisgender heterosexual patriarchy,” “reparations for all Indigenous and black peoples,” “the abolition of the police, ICE, borders and the judicial system,” the “Indigenous reclamation of stolen lands,” and other radical goals. GSAs exist to aggressively teach “queer and trans youth” how to fight for “racial and gender justice” through their materials, activities, and messaging.
That fight often pits children against their own families. GSA leaders are expected to “Know the laws … around students’ privacy rights and what you do and don’t have to tell parents/guardians/families” and avoid “out[ing] a student as a member of the GSA” without his or her consent. Parents recently sued a Colorado school district with a GSA for allowing this secrecy.
Without parental oversight, there is practically no limit to the brainwashing to which the activists will subject children. In one GSA activity, students use a chart to determine how “privileged” or “oppressed” they may be based on characteristics such as their skin color or whether they are “cisgender” or “non-native.” Children labeled oppressive are taught to “do the self work to analyze how our actions, lack of actions or privileges contribute to the ongoing marginalization of” other children. Staff are also guilty of “harassment” if they “intentionally or persistently [refuse] to respect your chosen name and pronouns,” according to GSA materials.
In addition to teaching students to hate themselves, their peers, and their families, GSAs teach them to hate traditional institutions that represent order. A coloring exercise features a drawing of the man who “threw the first brick” at the 1969 Stonewall riots, declaring, “the LGBT+ revolution began in riots.” The GSA Network also provides a list of “safety tips” for students who protest “police violence,” warning them about potentially violent encounters and the possibility of arrest.
And of course, the GSA madness wouldn’t be complete without some clubs promoting sexually ultra-explicit books such as Gender Queer and scantily clad drag performances for children without parental consent.
When it comes to the Biden administration’s war on parents and children, this is only the tip of the iceberg. The CDC devoted $85 million dollars to a grant program pressuring schools to start GSAs and to allow boys and girls to share bathrooms. To accompany the release of its guidelines on GSAs, the Education Department held a virtual conference celebrating an eighth grade boy who was taking estrogen. The department previously paid for an event supporting teachers who keep parents in the dark about their child’s gender confusion, regardless of the law. Fittingly, the GSA Network is in lockstep with Biden on advancing controversial “gender-affirming care” for minors.
The far Left seems to want children to grow up angry, emotionally fragile, possibly sterilized by gender “medicine,” ashamed of certain identity characteristics, desensitized to sexual perversion, and prone to cutting off relationships with those who disagree with them. If you envision a better life for your child, the president has made you his enemy.
