Donald Trump suggests feeding migrants to alligators that ‘will work for food’

Former President Donald Trump shared a meme suggesting that the US’s growing border crisis could be fixed by feeding migrants to alligators.

Trump posted an image of a half dozen gators sitting at the edge of the water facing a fence. The meme stated, ‘new border security’ at the top, and ‘will work for food’ at the bottom.

‘Problem solved!!’ was the commentary at the top of the meme shared on Truth Social on Wednesday afternoon.

Trump shared the meme as major metro areas including New York City face an increasing migrant crisis.

It is not the first time that Trump has floated using alligators to stave off illegal immigration into the US.

In October 2019, The New York Times reported that Trump privately ‘often talked about fortifying a border wall with a water-filled trench, stocked with snakes or alligators, prompting aides to seek a cost estimate’.

Along with the alligator moat, Trump ‘wanted the wall electrified, with spikes on top that could pierce human flesh,’ wrote the newspaper.

Trump also publicly suggested having soldiers shoot migrants if they threw rocks but backed away from the idea when administration staff said it was not legal.

‘But later in a meeting, aides recalled, he suggested that they shoot migrants in the legs to slow them down,’ The Times reported. ‘That’s not allowed either, they told him.’

Biden has been criticized by some leaders for failing to address the migrant crisis. The president made no mention of the issue while speaking at a United Nations leaders reception on Tuesday evening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where a large number of migrants are stranded outside the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown.

Mayor Eric Adams has called out the Biden administration’s lack of response and assistance around the influx of migrants costing the city billions.
