Crouching pervert, hidden camera : Voyeur filmed up women’s skirts in Sephora, police say

Using his cell phone to film up women’s skirts as they shopped in Scottsdale, police in Arizona said upon arresting Fabian Calderon for voyeurism, they found a large and disturbing collection of more than 200 images of his victims on his device amassed over several weeks.

Calderon, 27, was arrested on Oct. 14, a spokesperson for the Scottsdale Police Department confirmed to Law&Crime by phone on Monday. It was reported by local NBC affiliate KPNX that Calderon was taken into custody after being caught in the act.

It was reported by ABC’s KNXV that in addition to the voyeurism charge, Calderon was also charged with providing a fake identity to police when he was arrested.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows the 27-year-old, who claims to be a Mexican national, entering a Sephora in Scottsdale and then lurking inside for 20 minutes, surreptitiously filming women.

Calderon was allegedly caught red-handed by a victim’s friend on one occasion. The friend managed to snap a photo of Calderon as she confronted him and he fled. The exact date of this particular incident was unclear and according to KNXV, police did not find him then but later when he had returned to the scene of his alleged crime.

Store security footage reportedly showed Calderon moving from a Sephora to a nearby World Market to commit the same offenses. When police stopped him, they said said a review of his phone was conducted after a translator read him his Miranda rights and he agreed to the search. Scottsdale police believe the cache of 240 upskirt video and photos represents at least 20 victims. So far only 2 women have been positively identified and authorities now ask that people who believe they have been victimized to come forward. Reports can be made by calling 480-312-5000.

In addition to the Sephora located at Scottsdale Quarter and the World Market located on Scottsdale Road, police allege Calderon also filmed victims at the Urban Outfitters in Glendale, Arizona, roughly 20 minutes west of Scottsdale.
