An Oregon homeowner fatally shot an alleged home invader early Tuesday morning — and police said the shooter held a valid protection order against the suspect.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the area of Cleveland Street in Shady Cove.

Deputies responded to the call, and medics attempted life-saving measures on the suspect, who was pronounced dead at 2:34 a.m., officials said.
