Ohio McDonald’s Under Investigation After Customer Reports Getting ‘Crack Pipe’ with Breakfast Order

A McDonald’s location in Ohio is being investigated by its local public health department after a customer claimed they were given a “crack pipe” along with their breakfast order.

The customer posted to Reddit Tuesday that they had gone through the drive-thru of the McDonald’s location on Harrisburg Pike in Columbus to order breakfast, and “found a crack pipe in the bag.” Other users encouraged the customer to reach out to Franklin County Public Health.

Franchise owner Alex Mendoza told the Columbus Dispatch that the claim was being investigated by McDonald’s.

“As a local business owner, the safety of my customers and crew is my first priority, and we take this very seriously,” Mendoza told the outlet.

After interviews with staff and a thorough review of the establishment’s security cameras, a McDonald’s spokesperson told the outlet that so far no evidence has been found that indicated that the alleged drug paraphernalia came from the McDonald’s.

Columbus Public Health spokeswoman Kelli Newman told the outlet that the department was planning to send a health inspector to perform an emergency health inspection at the location on Wednesday. The complaint submitted to Franklin County Public Health was also forwarded to Columbus Public Health.

The customer in the Reddit post shared an image of the alleged “crack pipe” with the Columbus Dispatch, showing a discolored cylindrical item next to a paper McDonald’s bag.

The user claimed that they brought the bag back to a McDonald’s manager who offered them a refund, which the user said they did not accept.

The Columbus Division of Police told the Dispatch that it did not receive any requests for assistance at the location on Tuesday.
