Statistics show police officers in Michigan are being assaulted at record levels; 1,700 in 2022

(WWJ) Being a cop in Michigan has become lot more dangerous in recent years, according to new numbers released by the state.

Michigan State Police records show more than 1,700 police officers statewide were assaulted on the job in 2022.

Mayor Mike Duggan applauded the DPD’s approach to crime in 2023, which included raises for police officers, hiring and deploying more staff, and partnering with community groups across the city.
