US migrant crisis explodes with more than 8 MILLION asylum seekers to soon be living in America

The US migrant crisis looks set to cause further chaos as up to eight million asylum seekers set sights on living in America.

Experts have warned the backlog of asylum seekers and other migrants in the US will hit eight million by the end of September.

The figure is up 167 per cent compared to five years ago, statistics obtained by Axios have shown.

More than 6.3 million migrants have been detained crossing into the US illegally since Joe Biden entered the White House

The shocking statistics were revealed after more than 300,000 encounters took place on the southern border last month.

Pressure on border states even forced Texas Governor Greg Abbott to rule out serving as Donald Trump’s running-mate in the upcoming general election.

Abbott has instead warned the US is in “imminent danger” due to an “invasion” of “known and unknown terrorists” who embark on the journey every single day.

He stressed the best way he can support Trump’s third successive White House bid is “by being a great Governor of Texas”.

Abbott also used his CBS appearance to square the blame solely at Biden’s feet, claiming: “It ends very simply, that’s with a president of the United States who will actually fulfill their oath of office to enforce the laws of the United States of America, that means denying illegal entry into the country.”

A Gallup poll found that 28 per cent of Americans now believe immigration is the biggest problem facing America.

The figure is higher than those citing either the economy or inflation.

It also constitutes a record high since Gallup began polling voters on their views about immigration in 1981.

Trump and Biden both headed down to the Lone Star State last week amid growing debate about the issue of immigration.

Trump headed to Eagle Pass and was filmed waving at migrants on the other side of the border through a razor wire fence.

During his visit, the 45th President claimed: “The United States is being overrun by the Biden migrant crime.

“Migrant crime is a new form of vicious violation to our country.”

Biden added: “You know and I know it’s the toughest, most efficient, most effective border security bill this country’s ever seen.

“So instead of playing politics with the issue, why don’t we just get together and get it done?”
