Neighbors called the police to report children sledding on the road — the cops arrived and joined them

It is heartwarming to see adults join in to have fun with kids and do things they do not normally get to do. Also, it is even rare to see policemen do such things. So when a group of police officers from the Bothell Police Department in Washington stopped by during a patrol to sled with kids during snow season, they took the internet by storm and warmed people’s hearts. The brief clip of the police officers enjoying a snow day was shared on the department’s X handle (@BothellPolice).

“Roadway conditions, perfect for sledding…not so much for driving. Lots of kids (and cops) out sledding, so please drive safely and take it slow,” the caption of the video read. In the video, the area was completely covered with snow. Everything, including the roads, the cars, the trees and the houses, was under a white blanket.

The video was also shared by the Internet Hall of Fame (@InternetH0F) on X with the caption, “The neighbors called the police to report children skating on the road. Police after arriving” The department also clarified that “No one actually called. We stopped by while on patrol to chat with the kids and see if they would let us sled with them.” The video shared by the department received more than 1.5k likes and over 500 reposts. People took to the comments section of the video to thank the police officers for their gesture and for ensuring that the kids had a good time on a snow day while others also cautioned people about the potential hazards of sledding.

@itrysanity wrote, “Monday, I sent the sledding with kids and cops to my only brother in California. He hates Washington. He thought the video was great! The next day, I notified him that it was on ABC Morning National News; he thought that was really cool. Thanks again!”

@seattleruntours remarked, “Remind kids to watch out for parked cars!! A girl died sledding in Magnolia when we were 10 years old because she hit a parked car!” @drnope shared, “Reminds me of a winter we had in the UK when I was unemployed and went to sign on by Snowboard. It pissed off the Nazi behind the desk to no end when I walked in with my Sims under my arm. Righteous. Good times.” @BrianOkeson expressed, “Isn’t that illegal? It is a roadway, after all, snow or not. Also, sometimes, with tragic results, sledders run into parked cars.”
