Justice Department sources told a New Jersey outlet on Friday that the department plans to file charges against New Jersey Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver, after she participated in a protest outside a facility in Newark last week.

Three sources confirmed the plan to the New Jersey Globe, but it is not clear what the exact charges will be, or when they will be announced, but the sources said the charges could be filed as early as Friday.
Authorities have claimed the event went well beyond a peaceful protest, as the three members of Congress allegedly stormed the facility, and Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested and charged with trespassing. Authorities also allege that an ICE agent was assaulted.

The potential charges are not the only repercussions the lawmakers could face. Georgia GOP Rep. Buddy Carter proposed removing the three lawmakers from their committee posts earlier this week.
