100+ ‘violent criminals’ arrested in DC amid Trump crackdown

President Donald Trump’s administration has confirmed that over 100 “violent criminals” have been arrested in Washington, D.C., in the first week of the administration’s crackdown on crime.

According to Fox News, a White House official told the outlet on Wednesday morning that 103 individuals had been arrested in D.C. since August 7 and that 43 of the individuals were arrested on Tuesday. The outlet noted that the arrests stemmed from Trump’s executive order in March that created the “Making D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force.

Fox News reported that in addition to the hundreds of National Guard troops that have been deployed to D.C., the Trump administration is also utilizing the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Capital Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to aid local officials in combating crime throughout the city.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News on Thursday that 45 additional arrests were made in the nation’s capital on Wednesday night and that roughly 100 arrests had been made in D.C. since Trump announced he would be federalizing the Metropolitan Police Department and deploying the National Guard on Monday.

In addition to the 45 arrests on Wednesday, Leavitt told Fox News that 29 illegal immigrants were apprehended and three illegal firearms were seized by law enforcement officials.
