
DC police tackled a Spanish speaking man on the National Mall after he tried to escape.
The man repeatedly shouted in Spanish, “Please! I’m not a criminal. I work here! I want to be with my family!”
Not other details about the man being detained were immediately released.

Section 740 of the DC Home Rule Act allows the President to take control of the Metropolitan Police Department under “special conditions of an emergency nature.”
The President signed two executive actions on Monday, including invoking powers under section 740 and sending statutorily required letters to the DC Mayor and the necessary congressional committees. Section 740 requires the President to notify the committee chairmen and the mayor in order to federalize the Metropolitan police for more than forty-eight hours.

According to Attorney General Pam Bondi, more than 550 people have been arrested in DC since the federal takeover.
The DHS announced it has apprehended more than 200 illegals in DC including several notorious gang members.
