Throttled prosecution numbers cloud the real picture of safety in the capital and one wonders if anything Democrats say can be trusted. After all, these are the same people that tried to tell us there was no stagflation crisis. These are the same people that tried to tell us there was no immigration crisis. These are the same people that told us the BLM riots were “fiery but mostly peaceful”.

Recent reports show that Washington crime has plunged in the past two weeks. Property crime dropped 19%, violent crime dipped 17%-22% (depending on the source), robberies/muggings have dropped 40%-46% and carjackings have dropped 83%. The average murder rate in DC is one killing every 36hrs – There has not been a single murder since August 13th.
This suggests that a large percentage of crime in the area is directly related to lack of police visibility on city streets and other public property where federal agencies are now patrolling. Democrat efforts to reduce or remove police visibility in the name of “social justice” stemmed from “defund the police” activism. It’s a policy that plagues their political record today and one that they are desperate to forget.

Around 43% of Washington’s population is black, and many black residents are relieved with the sudden drop in criminal activity.
The examples are endless, but not everyone is happy about falling crime in the area. Democrats and leftist activists are enraged by Trump’s cleanup efforts, calling the move “fascism”. Protests have hit the city with activists chanting in the name of BLM. If “black lives matter”, then why are leftists standing against making black neighborhoods safer?
The political left sees opportunity in crime. They view criminal theft as cultural “reparations” and wealth redistribution. They treat the lack of arrests and prosecutions as protection for a supposedly oppressed minority. And, they view criminal chaos in US streets as a tool for the deconstruction of western civilization. It’s not surprising that they are indignant over any action that might make the streets safer.
