Conservative Journalist Scores Big Legal Victory After Portland ‘Disorderly Conduct’ Arrest

One of the key issues critics of Antifa’s increased presence in front of the ICE building in Portland have been emphasizing over the last three months revolves around the fact that the Portland Police Department rarely, if ever, intervenes in the instances where agitators are aggressively harassing people and, in some cases, get violent with them.

[snip]Not only did Daviscourt trail her alleged attacker with a camera, but she also flagged down a Portland police officer who was on the scene. Instead of arresting the masked individual, who wasn’t running, the officer let her walk away. That same night, the Portland police, incredibly, put out a call for the public’s help in identifying the alleged perp. One case that has gotten considerable national attention involves conservative journalist Nick Sortor, who was arrested last Thursday in Portland while documenting the activities of the agitators, even though it’s not clear from the video footage as to just what was “disorderly” about Sortor’s alleged conduct.

Here’s what he says actually happened:

THIS is the altercation that I’m *supposedly* being charged for.

An altercation where I was CLEARLY the victim, asked my assailant MULTIPLE times to leave me alone, gave multiple warnings, etc, before I was punched and pushed into a hole.

My assailant was NOT arrested. We have identified the person, and will be making a post on that later today.

In an update to this story, we learned Monday that the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office has declined to prosecute Sortor, saying they didn’t believe they could prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt based on all available evidence:

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office declined to charge Nick Sortor with Disorderly Conduct for activities related to Thursday October 2nd.

[snip]

After a careful review of the investigation, including reports and video, we do not believe the crime of Disorderly Conduct can be proven against Mr. Sortor beyond a reasonable doubt. The two other individuals arrested for Disorderly Conduct October 2nd have been charged.

The two others who were arrested over the alleged incident were agitators Angella Lyn Davis and Son Mi Yi.

Relatedly, this is a great time for a reminder to support the work of the journos who have been on the ground in Portland for a long time, exposing the Antifa-led groups on a near-daily basis, some of whom have been physically attacked for doing the hard but necessary work of shining a brighter light on these radical groups.

As for Sortor,  he is vowing to press on in helping expose the rioters and the Portland PD, tweeting, “trust me, this is ONLY the beginning.”

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
