‘That is far too much, too young!’ Furious parents rally at Virginia middle school as board suggests punishing children for ‘malicious misgendering’ and ‘deadnaming’ if they use trans classmates’ old names
A chorus of furious parents rallied at a Virginia school last night in protest over proposed changes to rules that include punishing children for ‘maliciously misgendering’ their trans classmates if they accidentally refer to them by their old names.
The Fairfax County school board is still deliberating whether or not to implement the punishments for kids at Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church, Virginia.
It would make ‘deadnaming’ – the act of referring to a trans person with the name they used before they transitioned – a suspendible offense.
The board is also deliberating mixing boys and girls in sex education classes.
Parents say it is ‘too much too young’ and that some of the materials they are being shown are ‘pornographic’.
At a meeting in Virginia last week, the parents held up signs that read ‘concerned parents are ‘not terrorists’ and ‘we the parents have had enough’.
‘I asked my son this morning what he was going to learn. He said, ‘math, science, language arts, writing. And he said, ’oh, science.’ That’s what we want to hear, right?
‘We don’t want to hear, “I got punished today because I called somebody by the wrong pronoun. Or what this regulation identifies as ”malicious misgendering”‘ one parent called Jeff told FOX News.
The parents want to be able to opt-in or out of the mixed-gender sex education classes.
‘That’s absolutely key. Especially when they’re expanding upon information that students are hearing here at school, but you would never even dream of mentioning in an adult working environment.
‘Some of the things that kids are being told in school or even literature that they’re receiving in school, is, if you sold it on the street, or you had it on the street, you’d be criminalized for it,’ said parent Elizabeth McCauley.
‘It’s compelling our kids to a type of behavior and speech and especially…if you’re a conservative family or a Christian family, you have a right to be able to live in reality and…address someone who is obviously male as a male.
‘I don’t think that that speech should be compelled,’ said mother Stacy Langton.
The Fairfax County School Board has 12 members, ten of which are women.
In March, Asian Muslim mother Asra Nomani was marched out of one of the school board’s meetings after taking the podium with anti-CRT books.
She had brought with her copies of Race to the Bottom: Uncovering the Secret Forces Destroying American Public Education, a book by Daily Wire reporter Luke Rosiak.
In an article later, Nomani said she lost her job at the group Parents Defending Education as a result of the incident.
‘Over the past two years, I have witnessed a new racism by the 12-0 woke Democrats on the school board, directed against Asian Americans, like me, whose children’s success in K-12 schools belie the notion that systemic racism oppresses all minorities.
‘The painful irony of progressive Democrats flashed before me.
‘The school board that pontificates so often about “white supremacy” and creating a “caring culture” had dispatched white security officials against me, an Asian immigrant Muslim single mom,’ she said in a March article for The Federalist.
The school board has pushed its vote on punishing kids for deadnaming until June.
