An Oregon high school asked boys to stop vandalizing its bathrooms after stocking them with free menstrual products, according to a Friday email obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Over the last few weeks, Lakeridge High School officials have said that tampon dispensers were taken off the wall in boys’ bathrooms and placed in the toilet, according to an email obtained by the DCNF. All K-12 bathrooms in the Lake Oswego School District offer free menstrual products for students in order to comply with state law which requires schools to provide such resources in gender-neutral, male and female restrooms.
“This is a perfect example of throwing away tax dollars in Oregon public schools,” Caroline Moore, vice president of Parents Defending Education, a parental rights in education group, told the DCNF. “This isn’t about vandalizing school property-we all know that is bad. The boys are signaling they are not girls and they want to be left alone. It is appalling that any school district is furthering the bizarre agenda from the left where they neglect science and believe men require tampons. Aren’t the teachers supposed to be teaching them elementary facts, like I don’t know, anatomy?”
Lakeridge High School attached a photo of a tampon dispenser in a boys’ bathroom toilet as a part of its email asking the school community to help stop the vandalism.
In 2021, Oregon enacted the “Menstrual Dignity Act” which requires public schools to provide all students, regardless of “gender, age, ability [and] socioeconomic status” with menstrual products. The act aims to prioritize “four pillars,” including “privacy, inclusivity, access and education”

The high school provided parents with resources on “menstruation, menstrual products, sexuality and health,” to aid them in conversations with their children about the topics, the email stated. The resources included two videos which explain that menstruation is a normal part of puberty for a “person that has a uterus.”
“Growing Up OK,” a brochure on puberty provided in the email and recommended for grades K-12, explains “wet dreams,” erections and ejaculations.
“Each time that the dispensers are taken down, the school needs to spend time and resources putting them back up in order to be compliant with House Bill 3294 [Menstrual Dignity Act],” the email stated. “We are asking our student body to be respectful of school property, and to be sensitive to all of our student’s needs.”
Lakeridge High School did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.
