A former special education teacher from Connecticut choked up on television Wednesday after resigning over an “extreme” video where she appeared to threaten Trump supporters.
Annie Dunleavy, who resigned from Cheshire Public Schools following her suspension, admitted in an interview with WTNH News8 that she was highly emotional when she posted the video, in which she said she would put Trump voters “on a stretcher.” Dunleavy expressed regret for the video’s impact on her career.

Dunleavy explained that while her words came out “very wrong,” her intention was to express her unwillingness to back down on women’s issues.
“It’s my life’s dream to be a teacher,” she said through tears, her voice trembling. “I consider those kids my kids because I don’t have any of my own, and they fill that for me.”
Dunleavy said police will not charge her for what she said in the video, according to the outlet.
“People of color, and poor people, and gay people and all the people that I care about aren’t going to be safe in America. Neither the fuck are you guys,” Dunleavy said in the viral video, pointing her finger at the camera. “Just because you guys won doesn’t mean we don’t remember what the fuck you voted for.”
“You’re not in the clear. And just please, please don’t test your gangster on me because you will end on a stretcher. Gone. Forever,” the former teacher warned. (RELATED: ‘Like Buffalo Through A Storm’: School Principal Placed On Leave After Lamenting Trump’s Win In Staff Newsletter)

“The comments on that video did not reflect the position of our school system. They were hurtful, deeply concerning, and ultimately undermined the faith that our community has placed in us. Every student and family has the right to attend our schools free from the concern of political prejudice, let alone their safety,” the statement reads.
Cheshire Board of Education Chair Samantha Rosenberg also issued a statement acknowledging “the intense emotions this situation has stirred,” according to the outlet.
“The Board of Education is united in finding the teacher’s behavior reprehensible and unacceptable, and we are horrified and deeply offended by statements made in the video,” the statement reads in part. “As representatives of this community, we demanded an immediate response and are grateful to Superintendent, Dr. Solan and all parties involved for their swift actions to ensure a resolution. This incident has been treated with the utmost care, and every step taken has aligned with legal and ethical standards.”
Editor’s note: The front page headline of this article initially read the teacher was fired but has been corrected to say she resigned.
