In Beverly Hills, a department store announced on Sunday that masks will soon be banned inside the shop due to a rise in masked burglaries in the area.
Fraser Ross, owner of the clothing store Kitson, told CBSLA that the store located on Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills will ban masks in order to “prioritize the safety of our staff and customers.”
“At Kitson we prioritize the safety of our staff and customers. We noticed a disturbing trend of individuals wearing masks to avoid identification in various situations including, but not limited to, shoplifting, verbal harassment, and physical assault,” Ross said in a statement. “The mask mandate may have begun as a health precaution, but we believe it is now being used by some people for nefarious purposes.”
“To that end, we enacted our own mandate of sorts. We do not allow wearing of masks in the Robertson store during regular business hours,” he added. “Those people who wish to wear masks are free to set up an appointment for a [personal] shopping experience or visit our website. We also offer curbside pickup.”
Ross said customers in the Los Angeles County store can still wear a mask due to COVID-19, but they must make a shopping appointment with the store first.
Last week, another homeowner used their gun to fatally shoot an intruder who broke into their home.
A mother in Milwaukee, Wis., jumped out of the shower, grabbed her gun and fatally shot a home intruder last Monday. The mother, whose identity has not been released, said she was in the shower when she heard her 12 and 14-year-old children screaming in the next room. She immediately jumped out of the shower and, while dripping wet, grabbed her firearm from her bedroom. When she saw the intruder was not deterred by her dogs and “kept coming,” she fired the fatal shot.
