Lefty Dem Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is getting bashed for lashing out at a recent TV performance by the NYPD’s dance team — with foes saying her criticism only highlights the failures of her own party.
The Democratic congresswoman from New York City — who supported the Defund the Police movement — was among those to take aim at the Police Department after its dance troupe performed on-air on PIX11 late last week.

The NYPD performance, which has since gone viral on social media, sparked widespread controversy after critics questioned the importance of the dance team given that the Big Apple is battling crime and a relentless migrant crisis.
But some critics — while still condemning the dance team’s on-air gig — also seized on AOC’s remarks, suggesting her own party’s progressive policies are fueling Gotham’s biggest issues.
One person responded to AOC’s tweet about cut school programs by saying, “Probably none bc they were already defunded.”
Another poster to X said, “How many people in your district are getting screwed over by the migrant invasion?”
Another site user added, “Isn’t this the type of police that you like, the ones who don’t actually enforce laws.”
One person chimed in, “Meanwhile because of @AOC’s policies New York City is spending billions on illegal immigrants.”

The NYPD and its dance team have since addressed the widespread backlash, insisting the troop is just like another other department sport team and that no taxpayer funds go toward supporting them.
“We’re not looking to be professional dancers,” Autumn-Raine Martinez, the dance team’s president, told PIX11 on Tuesday. “Some of us have never danced before, some of us have danced our whole lives.
“Even with the comments we’ve been getting, we’ve been just leaning on each other, just supporting each other,” she said. “It’s already tough being on this [police] job, but then to have more things like that [criticism] for doing something we love doing is kind of hard.”
