NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 78-year-old man was pummeled in the face after he asked a man and woman to turn down their music on an Upper West Side subway train, police said Friday as they released images of the suspects.
The victim did nothing more than request that the pair lower the volume on an external speaker on a southbound 1 train around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Instead of being polite to their fellow rider, the pair responded by punching him in the face repeatedly, police said.
The victim suffered bruising and a laceration to his face.
He got off the train at the 96th Street station and was transported by EMS to Mount Sinai Morningside, where he was in stable condition.
Cellphone photos show the suspects on the train around the time of the attack.
They remained aboard the train and are believed to have departed at the 34th Street–Herald Square station. They were still being sought on Friday.
